Studio Images Phnom Penh expose son travail sur la lumière et la distance

Une exposition de photographie argentique explore comment la lumière révèle les émotions, la distance et les liens humains, au Studio Images du 20 octobre au 10 novembre 2025.

Relation/Distance

« Relation/Distance » est un projet qui explore la relation du photographe à son sujet par la distance physique, c’est-à-dire être proche ou éloigné, et ses effets sur le sentiment de connexion à la fois à l’intérieur et à l’extérieur de l’image. Le film argentique, étant un médium qui penche vers le processus, fait écho à l’importance de la présence physique et de la connexion. Ce concept de Relation/Distance existe dans une variation infinie qui raconte une histoire sur ce que nous voyons, et comment nous ressentons et interagissons avec le monde. Les étudiants qui ont participé à cet atelier d’un mois et demi ont été invités à explorer ce concept et à présenter leurs œuvres au public.

Réflexion Pédagogique

For students whose only experience was with digital photography, learning film was a step-by-step process: loading the film, mixing chemicals, developing, scanning, and also eagerly awaiting the chance to see their images. The students received an assortment of basic cameras, ranging from fully manual to fully automatic, as well as six rolls of film for the six-week course. They learned a blend of theory on documentary practices and hands-on experience with this highly tactile and time-consuming medium.

Many students found it difficult to shoot in fully manual mode due to their familiarity with digital cameras, making numerous mistakes with underexposure, overexposure, and film development. Nevertheless, they discovered a new love and joy in the analog process, and the beauty of “accidents” in art. This medium, which forced them to slow down, allowed them to gain a deeper understanding of light passing through their lens and the precise moment they decided to press the shutter. The limitations of 36 exposures per roll compelled them to be more precise and decisive in their image production.
